Help with tracking your progress

The Learning Management System (LMS) will track and save your progress as you work through the Toro Mai courses. This allows you to leave your study and return to it later, without losing your place.

Follow these tips so that the LMS can record your progress.

Tip one: Always log in via the Toro Mai login page

Always log in via the Toro Mai login page

  • Always log in through the Toro Mai login page.
  • Bookmark this link/site to open your session each time.

Tip two: Don't close the LMS browser window

Don't close the LMS browser window

After you've entered your course (for example, via Te Reo, Launch and Enter) a new browser window will open. This is the LMS browser window and it's recording your progress.

  • Don't close this window during your session.
  • Make sure you've enabled pop-ups on this browser window.

Tip three: Don't bookmark the Course Platform window

Don't bookmark the Course Platform window

In addition to the LMS browser window, another new browser window will open automatically. This is the actual Course Platform where the course materials are delivered.

You must enter the Course Platform via the Toro Mai login page. If you open the Course Platform directly (for example, through a saved link), the LMS will not record your progress.

  • Don't bookmark the Course Platform link/site.
  • Don't enter the Course Platform directly through a saved link.
  • To get to the Course Platform, always log in through the Toro Mai login page.

Tip four: Close all windows if your progress is incorrect

Close all windows if your progress is incorrect

At the bottom of the Course Platform page, you will see the course topics in circles (for example, Meet & Family). The rings around the circles are coloured to show your progress for each topic. If your circles appear to have less progress than when you were here last, please close down all Toro Mai web browser windows (remembering there are usually multiple windows open during a session).

Tip five: How to view your progress for topic sections

How to view your progress  for topic sections

When you're in a topic section (for example words, phrases and so on), you can see your progress bar on the top right of the screen. Click on your progress bar to view more details about your progress in the section.

Tip six: End your session if you get an LMS error message

End your session if you get an LMS error message

If at any point you see a pop-up error message, "Course could not connect to the LMS", please end your session.  Even though you will be able to continue with the course, your progress will not be recorded. Your course must be connected to the LMS if you want to record your progress.

  • End your session.
  • Close all Toro Mai web browser windows.
  • Log in again through the Toro Mai login page.

Tip seven: Never leave Toro Mai open on a device

Never leave Toro Mai open on a device

You can only have one session of Toro Mai open at a time (including on separate devices). When you finish your session on a device, it's a good idea to close down all Toro Mai web browser windows (remembering there are usually multiple windows open).

  • Always close down Toro Mai at the end of a session.
  • Ensure all Toro Mai web browser windows are closed.
