At Massey, we have been providing the foundations for solid leadership skills in New Zealand for 80 years. We are well known for our internationally recognised research led qualifications and course flexibility that has led to thousands of graduates becoming leaders in their chosen industries throughout the world.
Massey University is different to other New Zealand universities for a number of reasons. Our teaching and research is renowned not just in New Zealand but also around the world. This dedication and commitment starts from the top, providing Massey’s students with the highest quality of education.
The quality and flexibility of our distance learning courses, gained from 80 years of experience has made us the leaders in New Zealand. We have always been the leader in distance learning but that does not mean we have become complacent. We are constantly improving our services so students gain more value.
Some of our free services include regional study and exam skills workshops, writing support services and an assignement pre-reading service where students can get feedback on their assignments before they submit them. There is also a real time, online interaction with learning advisers and a range of resources provided on the online writing and learning link (OWLL).
Another reason we are a leading university in New Zealand is we offer such a broad range of courses. Some of our more interesting and varied courses include psychology, communications and media, creative writing, marketing, human resource management, environmental sustainability and economics. You can take adult education papers or certificates right through to postgraduate diplomas and masters.
Massey students have always rated highly their distance learning experience. In fact in a survey of students, 88.7% of postgraduate students and 85.1% of undergraduate students rated their distance learning at Massey as being ‘very good’ or ‘good.’ And the reason for this included the quality of classes, ease of the distance learning experience, helpfulness and understanding of the staff and the accessibility of resources.
The biggest challenge faced by distance learning students is juggling their studies around work and family life. Mentally it can be quite draining working and looking after families and then trying to understand course material, let alone meet deadlines.
We understand this and are flexible when it comes to getting assignments in on time. We will help you set your time expectations and set a clear timetable at the beginning of each semester.
