
The news media have always played a vital role in society and, with technological advances, are becoming more pervasive.
While news is constantly changing in both content and delivery, journalism remains a fascinating area of study. Our postgraduate journalism programme gives you the skills you need to enter the journalism industry. The Journalism Studies major in the Bachelor of Communication incorporates news media theory as well as helping you develop useful journalistic skills such as information gathering and writing.

The BC is a three-year degree that prepares you for a variety of emerging and current occupations in communication and media.
Graduate Diploma in Journalism Studies
The Graduate Diploma in Journalism Studies is for journalists who wish to deepen their knowledge and skills in the profession and is also for anyone with an interest in journalistic writing.
Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism
The Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism is the qualification you need to enter the journalism industry.
Only Massey offers a Master in Journalism in New Zealand, allowing you to research and write a major piece of journalism and critically reflect on the experience.
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is the highest supervised degree available at Massey University. The Communication and Marketing programmes have an excellent track record of helping doctoral students succeed.
