Certificate courses in personal financial management are available through the Fin-Ed Centre. You can do one, or the series. They are designed for people who would like:
The courses are delivered by Massey University's financial literacy experts, through a mixture of face-to-face teaching and online learning. A certificate of participation will be awarded upon successful completion of each course.
Group one courses are suitable for people who want to improve their own knowledge in managing their personal finances. These courses are designed to encourage individuals to gain better understanding of their own financial health, their understanding of various tools that they can use to take charge of their money.
However, the tools learned in these courses can also be used when teaching or facilitating financial capability courses.
This group consists of 3 courses and the duration for each course is approximately 40 hours in total across 6-8 weeks. As these courses are self-paced, some people finish them in a shorter time.
The two certificates in group two are designed for people who want to be involved in facilitating or educating/teaching others within their own organisation or in the informal setting within their own community or in a classroom setting.
It is assumed that people completing these certificates will already possess content knowledge. If this is not the case, then they may be expected to complete some of the key certificates from Group one.
The duration for these certificates is a total of 60 hours over 10-12 weeks and the participants are expected to complete a minimum of one compulsory contact day. The course can also be delivery through a series of wananga.
Successful completion of any three courses from the first strand plus either Facilitating Personal Financial Management or Teaching Personal Financial Management (Educators) entitles course participants to be awarded the Advanced Certificate in Personal Financial Management.
All prices include GST and stated in NZD.
