My research is focused mainly on investments and behavioural finance. My PhD research topic is “Stop Loss Investment Strategies”. I learned that trading strategies provide insights on various human behaviours in the financial market. My research in this area will help fund managers and practitioners to obtain better portfolio performances.

Bilal Hafeez

Bilal Hafeez is Senior Consulting Associate in National Examination and Evaluation Foundation (NEEF). NEEF has a vast portfolio of domains in which it operates and provides unique solutions and it is amongst the leading consulting firms in the field of education innovation in Pakistan. Bilal Hafeez brings years of expertise in advanced research methods and education innovation. The most significant projects include: involvement in developed National ICT R&D Fund, the biggest Framework of its kind to in the country to support growth in ICT Sector, development of a comprehensive Curriculum, Learning Outcomes and Early Grade Assessment system, conducting a baseline assessment for grade five students in the province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for more than 320,000 students in a single day, a test of unprecedented magnitude in Pakistan. He is currently pursuing PhD in Finance; his research is focused on Emerging Aspects of Shareholder Activism

My PhD research topic is “The Impact of Off-Shore Investments by Firms: A Perspective from Chinese Corporations”. This study is based on the trend that many Chinese corporations have made a large amount of overseas investments in developing countries in recent years.

Upon graduating Massey Scholar from a Bachelor of Business Studies in finance and accountancy (double major), I completed a Masters degree with a thesis on emissions trading, carbon pricing and the impact on carbon producing firms in Europe. My research interests focus around the area of climate change risk.

My research aims to enter in the field of behavioural economics and finance. I wish to contribute to the field of finance by identifying and understanding the behaviours individual investors of New Zealand’s and the psychological motivations behind their investment objectives and strategies with a likely effect on portfolio returns.This research will benefit investors of New Zealand to avoid financial pitfalls and help in strategy development. On the other hand, it will also advantage New Zealand’s wealth management companies and investment management firms by enabling them to incorporate psychological aspects in advising their clients.

I am a Massey graduate who completed a BBS in Economics and Finance (double major) and a Master in Finance (Honours). My interests, thus research, relates to the collective works of my supervisors in the areas of corporate finance, corporate social responsibility, corporate bond and equity, executive compensations, risk management, asset pricing and price informativeness, among others. My research focus is ‘Corporate Behaviour and Executive incentives’, where I explore the incentive effects of structured pay components and top-level decision-makers.

I completed a master degree at Bangor University (United Kingdom) in March 2017 in Distinction with thesis named “CDS market reactions to sovereign split ratings between global CRAs”. I joined a PhD programe at Massey University (Albany campus, New Zealand) on 15 January 2018. My reseach interests cover sovereign (corporate) credit ratings and credit risks. My PhD thesis examines the importance of credit rating announcements issued by investor-paid CRAs on individuals and institutions’s trading activities.

Every organization faces a myriad of risks that can threaten its operations, reputation, and bottom line, etc. Addressing risk and risk management has become more important, especially after the global financial crisis in 2008 - 2009. My research focuses on building a robust, effective cultural framework that can make the difference between companies that successfully navigate those risks and those that become cautionary tales. Before joining the PhD program at Massey, I worked as an Audit Associate in the Financial Services Department of EY (FSO) for about 2 years. This experience prompted my interest in finance and banking research. I started my PhD in 2018 with Doctoral Research Scholarship of Massey University

I have studied in my home country, Thailand, and in Europe, namely, Scotland. As a result, I have a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Finance (First Class Honours) from The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and also a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Finance from Kasetsart University as well as a Master of Research in Business and Management from the University of Stirling. Furthermore, I worked as an auditor in the Treasury and Financial Product Auditing Department of the Siam Commercial Bank and as a lecturer at Kasetsart University in the Department of Finance. I am particularly interested in Corporate Governance. The focus of my PhD research is on 'Complicated Signals and the Cross-Section of Stock Returns'.

My research focuses on the political connections built up by Chinese listed firms. Specifically, I am trying to explore Chinese listed firms’ incentives to make investments in China’s sports industry, whether these investment decisions are politically driven and if they are, what are the influences of political connections constructed through investing sports industry and how is it different from political connections built up via other channels.

I will test the role that financial market participation plays in retirement income and the determinates for aging people's subjective financial situation satisfaction.
