We would like to invite you to participate in this study that will be investigating iron and vitamin D status. The purpose of this study is to investigate the current iron and vitamin D levels in Middle Eastern and South Asian females living in Auckland New Zealand, and identify risk factors associated with the development of these nutrient deficiencies.
- You will be seated in a comfortable, private and quiet room
- Complete a series of online questionnaires.
- Height and weight will be measured.
- Body composition (lean body mass and percentage body fat) composition will be measured using the bioelectrical impedance analysis machine (BIA).
- Blood pressure will be collected
- A blood sample will be taken by a trained phlebotomist. The total amount taken will be ~10 ml, equivalent to 2 x teaspoons.
- All body and blood measurements will be conducted in the private room and only yourself and a female researcher will be present during the collection process.
There will be no charges for the body composition or blood analysis assessments. You will receive all information on your blood samples (iron, vitamin D status, body composition and blood pressure). You will also receive a brief report summarising the main findings of the project via mail or email. All participants will be provided with a petrol voucher ($20) for completing the study on the Albany Campus in Auckland.
All personal information will be kept secure and strictly confidential.
