Drainage water from pipe outlets was monitored to quantify differences in nitrate-N leaching from the two farmlets. Supplementary work looked at milk urea as a surrogate measure for urine N.

Nitrate leaching from the two farmlets has also been modelled and these simulated values have been compared with the measured data. We have also measured soil nutrient status, annually, and some other soil parameters. We have evaluated, at the systems level, a number of organic fertilisers/soil conditioners.
