Multi-award-winning team

CPRR won the Massey University Team Research medal for 2014 for outstanding research contributions.

CPRR members and alumni have been repeatedly recognised for their outstanding contributions to refrigeration. We have been awarded:

• all but two Clarence Birdseye Prizes of International Institute of Refrigeration for outstanding work in the field of the refrigerated treatment of foodstuffs and the cold chain since 1991
• all three of the James Harrison Prizes of the International Institute of Refrigeration awarded since 2003 for outstanding work in the field of refrigerated storage and transport by young researchers
• six of the nine Tony Barnard Awards (for research by a person under 40) from the NZ National Committee of the International Institute of Refrigeration
• four out of 11 Ian Syminton Prizes (for research by a senior researcher) from the NZ National Committee of the International Institute of Refrigeration.

Members of the team have also received the following awards since 2011:

• Don Cleland: J & E Hall Gold Medal of the Institute of Refrigeration (UK) in 2011 and the Furkert Award in 2012 (IPENZ Supreme Technical Award for Engineering Achievers in Sustainability and Clean Technology)
• Andrew East won the James Harrison Prize for outstanding work in the field of refrigerated storage and transport from International Institute of Refrigeration, 2011; Massey University, College of Science, Early Career Research Award, 2012; Tony Barnard Award, 2013 for research by a person under 40 by the NZ National Committee of the International Institute of Refrigeration
• Jason Wargent won the Massey University Early Career Research Award, 2014
• Richard Love won the Tony Barnard Award, 2011 for research by a person under 40 by the NZ National Committee of the International Institute of Refrigeration
• Julian Heyes was elected Chair of the Commission of Fruit and Vegetables for Human Health by the International Society for Horticultural Science in 2014
